AECOM’s Construction Services business is expanding! We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to deliver a variety of capital works projects based in our diverse Wellington CBD office.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Graduate or Project Engineer looking for more client-facing exposure to step in to a diverse and fast-paced project management team and develop a career as a client-side Project Manager.

As an Assistant Project Manager in AECOM Construction Services, you can expect to make an impact and be involved in projects from concept-completion while working with some of our best leaders in the delivery of complex projects ranging between $5m-$10m in value. You will be capable and confident in working with clients (internal/external) and have a strong interest in developing your career towards full lifecycle Project Management.

Minimum Requirements

In order to be considered for an Assistant Project Management position, you will ideally hold some or all of the following attributes;

  • Bachelor's degree in building engineering, civil engineering, building services or similar

  • 3 years’ upwards in project or construction experience

  • Strong interest in career development towards client-side Project Management

  • Confident communicator, with an ability to write reports and communicate verbally with a variety of stakeholders in order to generate rapport and buy-in

  • Demonstrable experience in managing projects (or components of) and budgets to meet time and resource requirements

  • A strong sense of commitment and willingness to learn with a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline driven environment

  • Prior evidence of community, council and other stakeholder management and consultation

  • Broad background in civil construction projects highly beneficial; Civil Infrastructure, Airports, Defence, Education, Commercial, Healthcare, Utilities

  • Thrive in team working environments with an interest to learn and develop Project Management techniques and methods in a diverse and progressive culture

  • A basic understanding of a consultancy and Project Management frameworks, alongside how effective Project Management can be used to greatly benefit a client in terms of efficiencies, costing and timelines

  • Evidence in commercial and financial acumen on civil construction projects

  • Strong ability to influence and confidence in negotiation.
