Job Summary

Working with the Perth and ANZ Design Teams, to deliver on complex design projects, mainly in the area of HV Substations for Power Utility, Generation and Mining Clients. The focus will be to service existing Power Utility clients that we have Panel agreements with.

As a result we are looking to appoint a Power Design Lead to support the design delivery of this programme of works.

Your day to day role will include:

  • Management of a team of highly skilled Engineers, Cad design resources.

  • Provide design leadership and influence to generate innovative and high quality design outcomes.

  • Manage the interface between Project Managers and Discipline Leads that could be based in other regions with ANZ to deliver on bid and design stage requirements.

  • Ensure that key design decisions and priorities are effectively set, ensure project scope is fit-for-purpose, set and monitor design timelines and negotiate agreement on performance indicators (cost, quality, time, risk, resources)

  • Liaise with the Client Design Manager to identify changes of scope, resourcing and/or priority of packages that may impact delivery against schedule.

  • Determine all technical risks on the projects.

  • Review and sign off on design calculations, reports and drawings

  • Carry out design where necessary according to skill and experience.

  • Liaise with stakeholder groups during the development of the Designs.

  • Generate fee and programme estimates and regular track your progress.

  • Effectively manage safety-in-design risks in line with the processes and procedures

  • Escalate risks and or service delivery concerns to mitigate impact.

Minimum Requirements

Your experience will have seen you undertake substation and other Power design projects for clients. Experience with Western Power and Horizon Power standards will be to your advantage. You will be joining AECOM as a Principal Engineer and you will have a strong appreciation of all substation design elements with a focus on Primary Plant Design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor a in Electrical Engineering or similar.

  • CPEng or RPEQ.

  • 12+ years' experience in Substation and Power System Design with strong knowledge of the appropriate Standards.

  • Experience in carrying out substation design and managing technical teams to deliver multiple design packages.
