AECOM Principal Engineer – Building Structures in Melbourne, Australia

As part of the Building Structures team you will lead and project manage large projects, be responsible for the overall financial performance of large project delivery and manage the client relationship. The ideal candidate will have a structural engineering background with a passion to managing teams and have worked on multidisciplinary projects. Project Managers fulfil an important role within the team and ensure the commercial success of the project teams as well as resourcing, schedule, quality, safety, and client service.
Full accountability for the successful project delivery
Promotes a client-centric culture across the project team
Regularly meets with client to confirm that client's project expectations are satisfied
Responds to feedback and takes action as appropriate as a result of client feedback and surveys
Effectively manages change with the client and the project team
Prepares and executes the Project Plan during the Opportunity and Contracted phases
Understands and mitigates for project and business risk issues
Prepares for and participates in monthly project reviews
Fosters capture and sharing of knowledge and lessons learned
Facilitates cross business line or inter-office work activities
Effectively manages project personnel, resourcing and technical interfaces
Provides timely and effective guidance to project team members
Mentors project team members in furtherance of their professional development.
Bachelor's degree in structural engineering
10+ years of design and project management/leadership experience in building structures industry
Relevant post graduate qualifications in project management would be highly regarded
Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and meeting delivery requirements
Experience in successfully leading project teams, ideally multidisciplinary teams
Strong oral and written communication skills, is an attentive and active listener; commands attention and can manage group process during presentations; able to communicate at all levels
Demonstrated commercial acumen, and the ability to develop a strong client base
Strong team leader with excellent interpersonal skills, who is able to work with and support staff
An effective leader with tenacity and drive to achieve outstanding results
Successful track record in field of expertise and substantial project experience
Collaborative; willing to share knowledge, experience, ideas and expertise
Diligent and able to work consistently to deadlines under tight time frames
High-level problem-solving skills and judgment capability.
