Job Information

AECOM Quality Engineer - Defence in Darwin, Australia

Australia - , Darwin

Job Summary

AECOM’s Construction Services business is expanding! We have an exciting contracting opportunity for an experienced Quality Control (QC) Engineer to assist in the delivery of our key Defence base in Darwin.

As a QC Engineer with a world leader in engineering and construction services across some of the biggest civil engineering projects throughout the globe, you will be exposed to a major project and a variety of stakeholders across complex project phases.

Our current opportunity will allow a suitable QC Engineer to start immediately for a period of 6 months with a view for extension. This role will include both night shift and day shift rosters in relation to project demands at the time, depending on project stages and delivery requirements.

The Role

A suitable QC Engineer will be keen to work in a fast-paced and autonomous work environment and has major contractor experience in order to thrive across our complex projects and have a strong understanding of the managing contractor model, as well and interfacing with a variety of stakeholders.

The successful QC Engineer will work across a key package of works throughout the outlined QC program and due to the nature and site (Defence) of construction, suitable applicants will requite Australian Citizenship.

The QC Engineer will therefore cover on-site and off-site work and must be keyed to the work sequence. No construction work or testing will be performed unless the QC Engineer or Manager is on the work site and will report to the Project Superintendent, therefore the role will require an independent and solutions-drive QC Engineer.

The QC Engineer, Project Superintendent and Project Manager will work together effectively as a team to ensure all buildings systems and assets perform to requirements of the contract to our client.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ideally 10 years’ + Project Engineering, Project Superintendent, Quality Engineering or Construction Management across construction contracts

  • Australian Citizenship will be required to enter the Defence/Construction site

  • Flexibility in working hours across Day and Night Shift rosters (where applicable)

  • The QC Engineer will work within the requirements of EM 385-1-1 or equivalent Northern Territory Work Health and Safety, while having experience in areas of hazard identification, safety compliance and sustainability

  • A willingness to learn US standards and quality requirements across a complex Defence Force construction project

  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time, to schedule and client parameters including evidence of exceptional knowledge of quality standards in construction project delivery

  • Prior exposure to delivering projects under a managing contractor model are highly regarded

  • Local market network and understanding of Federal Government frameworks and procedures is highly beneficial to assist in project concept-completion

  • Confident communicator in client-facing environments and an ability to engage successfully across broad and complex stakeholder groups

  • Ability to work alongside Project Managers, sub-contractors and clients in order to achieve optimal project results on time and on budget

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar

  • Prior experience as a Construction Manager, Project Superintendent or Quality Engineer on site are strongly considered
