Job Description

Our energy business across New Zealand and Australia is fast responding to, and rapidly transitioning to a low carbon and renewable energy future. We are seeing unprecedent investment in utility scale renewable energy projects and decarbonisation opportunities across our client base.

The Transmission & Distribution team in New Zealand is spread across regional offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton. There is a mix of 60+ technical teammates, with an opportunity to grow by 10%+. This has led to a newly created role of ‘Sector Leader’.

A typical day in the role includes:

  • Leading engagement with our key clients, nurturing current relationships and developing new relationships in the pursuit of winning work for the NZ Energy business.

  • Drive operations and processes within a multidisciplinary T&D team in NZ.

  • Reviewing T&D bids, using your experience to ensure that our clients needs are truly understood and can be delivered by AECOM.

  • People Management of approx. 7 – 10 committed Engineers.

  • Being the escalation point for T&D technical design teams and Engineers on our projects, mentoring and supporting a highly capable team.

  • Thinking and Actioning Globally – using the resources both in NZ and across the world.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired. If you feel you match all the criteria or come close, we’d love to hear from you.

  • An Engineering Degree with 15+ years’ experience.

  • Broad technical experience in Transmission & Distribution, such as substations, transmission lines or distribution systems.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills including technical leadership and people engagement.

  • Ability to communicate with internal stakeholders at all levels. You will have the confidence to communicate both up and down within AECOM’s organisation structure.

  • You will be respected within the NZ Energy Community, with the relationships to bring continued work to AECOM. This will also come from your ability to build new relationships and through the high quality work your teams will produce under your leadership.
