Our national aviation team is looking for a Director of Aviation to join our team in New Zealand. This is a key role that has overall responsibility for our civil aviation and roading projects for international and regional commercial airports and our Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces’ portfolio of airfields.

What will a day in this role look like?

  • Leading technical excellence across a portfolio of civil aviation projects

  • Providing leadership and direction to a strong technical team of aviation engineers and designers

  • Building and maintaining relationships with AECOM’s clients and construction partners

  • Business development and winning work across Australia and New Zealand

  • Coordinate with our National Practice Leaders and Client Account Managers to drive work winning

  • Participate in the development and execution of our ANZ Aviation business strategy

  • Think and act globally, connecting and utilising our global aviation team to help win and deliver work across ANZ

Qualifications

What are we looking for from you?

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

  • Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or similar

  • 15+ years of relevant civil aviation experience

  • Detailed knowledge, passion and experience in the following areas:

  • ICAO Annex 14 and related ICAO planning and design guidelines

  • NZ CAA Advisory Circular Part 139 (or other equivalent ICAO member states 139 design guidance)

  • Relevant US FAA ACs

  • MOWP implementation and airside operational coordination

  • NZ CAA AC 139-5

  • Experience in airfield planning and design, including horizontal and vertical aircraft pavement, geometry and drainage

  • Chartered or professional member of relevant professional body
